Erosion of Truth in Media

Broadcast Running Time: 01:16:42

If narratives coming out of the media seem wildly inconsistent and are flopping around, there's a reason for that. John opens the show this week looking at the outrage and "flippage" seen in stories about both gun control following recent shootings and Nancy Pelosi being denied communion because of her stance on abortion. The media pound away at a narrative, bury facts, and distort the truth in order to shape public perception on a story. That erosion of truth infects people's minds and that's reflected at the polls. It's dangerous to the freedoms that are the foundation of our country.

Another example of the media distorting the truth to advance a narrative can be found in a story about a riot at a funeral in Israel. An Al Jazeera journalist was killed covering a story and at her funeral, violence broke out. Joining us to discuss is Tamar Sternthal (camera.org), Director of the Israel office of CAMERA. She highlights how different press agencies immediately pointed the finger at Israeli troops as the cause for the violence, purposefully overlooking Palestinian instigation – just to bash Israel.

Finally this week, we look at the declining state of public education in this country. Joining us is Dr. Diane Davis (oneroomschooltraining.com), founder of the One-Room Schoolhouse method of teaching. She describes the benefits of parents taking charge of their child's education and the advantages of teaching in a small classroom. If children can learn how to think, not what to think, perhaps public perception will not be influenced by the erosion of truth and the future of our country can be saved.

It's time for John's monthly foray into the guest chair as he chats with Lee Lancaster at KYMS radio. John and Lee discuss the Texas school shooting and related to that, the diminishing presence of morality in the schools and the insistence on gun control laws every time a shooting occurs. They also touched on the latest globalist shindig in Davos, the failure of climate change thinking, and the endgame of our currency. John also asks for prayer for the persecuted church, especially in the countries of Nigeria, Indonesia, China, and Egypt.

John has said that if this isn't the End Times, it's one heck of a dress rehearsal.  Joining us today to discuss the religious aspect of current events is Dr. J.B. Hixon (notbyworks.org), President of Not By Works Ministries.  We may be living in the last of the last days given a thorough examination of the times.  He looks at the constant attempts by the globalists to form a one-world government – a key indicator that the End Times period is near.  He also discusses elements of his new book: Spirit of the Antichrist, including how covid, the vaccines, and the 2020 election were all related around a plan to further many of the events happening right now.

Will there be consequences to this onrush of economic sanctions against Russia? Is politics overshadowing economics to the detriment of people worldwide? Joining us today is Tho Bishop (mises.org), Assistant Editor of the Mises Wire at the Mises Institute. He discusses how politicians here and in other countries are largely ignorant about economics, putting political righteousness over sound policy. He also looks at the very real possibility that the sanctions process being used against Putin right now will most likely be used against 'domestic terrorists' in America soon. Is there any way off this road to high inflation and economic destruction? If there is, it won't be on a political road.

Where are we heading? It's a question we like to visit often here at Steel on Steel. And who better to answer that question than our favorite futurist James Kunstler (kunstler.com)? He and John discuss many issues, including where resources and supply chains will be heading and how to prepare, where to locate should shortages happen, and the need for parallel societies – ones based not necessarily on political ideology but on need. They also look at the state of medicine today, which is a far cry from where it was pre-covid, and what medicine will look like once the covid narrative fades into obscurity. James breaks out his very realistic crystal ball on today's podcast.

Woke Word Games

The media are masters at manipulating words, deflecting blame, and promoting one side of politics rather than reporting on facts. In short, the truth is sacrificed in favor of narrative. We kick off this week's show with John tying together several issues, including the media's twisted word games, government officials' useless policies, and academia's constant promotion of the oppressor versus oppressed narrative. The problem is that these woke word games have real world consequences and it's costing people their jobs and sometimes their lives. When we push back – and many are pushing back – the manipulators fight viciously to protect their lie.

Familiar narratives have emerged from the latest climate conference, only now there's a new more sinister directive included. Back with us this week is Alex Newman (thenewamerican.com), Senior Editor at The New American Magazine. He discusses how the globalists, who push this climate narrative, want energy prices to go up, the U.S. economy to crash, and manufacturing jobs to migrate to China. Their plan seems to be working as massive amounts of newly-printed money are chasing far fewer goods because of supply chain issues. Alex says it is an organized looting of our economy.

Finally this week, we revisit an old favorite on Steel on Steel: civil asset forfeiture. It has run amok for years but now some jurisdictions are beginning to take notice. Joining us is CJ Ciaramella (reason.com), Criminal Justice correspondent at Reason Magazine. He examines different tactics used during and after police seizures as well as new reform laws, and the loopholes to try and get around those laws. If ironclad reform that can withstand challenges isn't possible, then asset forfeiture should be eliminated.

The latest climate conference produced much of the same narrative we've heard for the last few decades.  Only this time, there was a new directive added to the mix.  Back with us today is Alex Newman (thenewamerican.com), Senior Editor at The New American Magazine.  The new directive was to raise energy prices, do everything to destroy the U.S. economy, and ship manufacturing jobs to China.  A huge amount of money is being printed and it's now chasing a lot less goods because of supply chain shortages.  It is, as Alex says, an organized looting of our economy – and the writing has been on the wall for years.

You can't tax your way to prosperity, despite the repeated attempts to do so. Joining us today for a tax discussion is Julio Gonzalez (engineeredtaxservices.com), CEO of Engineered Tax Services. He looks at the new proposed Patriot Tax and the tendency for politicians on the Left to always turn to taxing the rich to solve society's problems. But the rich are never soaked, they offshore their money, and the middle class always ends up crumbling under the weight of these policies. No one can ever explain why the Left think the rich will pay, how they'll ever make the math work to fund their programs, and how any of it actually helps the poor. Will reality become so real that we actually get tax reform?
