European Union

After 16 years in power, Angela Merkel will step down as Chancellor of Germany. The country's Social Democrats edged out her party in elections this week. What does that mean for Europe and the world going forward? We welcome back Ukraine-based defense expert Reuben Johnson to the program to give us an update on geopolitics. He looks at many issues, including Europe's impending energy crisis caused by the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline deal, China's threat of global dominance, and some dangerous Russian military exercises. Many countries in Europe, especially Germany, are walking into a crisis with their eyes wide open.

John often says that when danger reared its ugly head, the pastors turned and bravely fled. That could be used to describe today's church. But has it always been that way in America? Our next guest today is Dan Fisher (danfisherbrr.com), Co-Pastor of Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. He reminds us about the pastors from the late 18th century who bravely led their flock in battle to birth our Republic. Fast forward to today and many pastors turn and flee from conflict. He offers solutions to turn the tide.

Finally, we head north to Canuck country with fan favorite Christine Douglass-Williams (frontpagemag.com), writer at FrontPage Magazine and Jihad Watch. She discusses a situation where a Jewish judge has been barred from presiding over cases involving Muslims. It points to a larger problem within the Canadian government and media where talking points and so-called facts are actually flipped upside down. We've gotten to the point where lies are being marketed as truth.

Periodically, we invite Ukraine-based defense expert Reuben Johnson on to give us an update on geopolitics, specifically in Europe, but also around the world. Today, he and John examine a number of issues, including post-Merkel Germany, and Europe's impending energy crisis caused by the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline and Russia's increasing influence in the industry. They also look at China and its hostage taking policies along with their views of the U.S. under Biden. Reuben also discusses the latest Russian military exercises that seem to simulate a future attack against western Europe, NATO, and Ukraine.

The Deal of the Century – the new Israeli-Palestinian peace plan – has been proposed, but what is the hang up? In this week's boralogue, John looks at the need for a viable peace partner. He shows how both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas have not exhibited a willingness over the years to work toward peace with Israel. Whether or not they cooperate, the peace train may soon leave the station. And Palestinian leadership may wish they would have boarded.

Socialism has never been successfully implemented simply because it can't be. Author and political forecaster Gerard Lameiro (www.greatnewsforamerica.com) is back with us to discuss several examples of failed socialist governments and how it only stays afloat when capitalism supports it behind the scenes. He also gives his predictions for the 2020 election and the future of the Democrat Party.

Socialism isn't the only example of government interference and dysfunction. Howard Husock (www.civilsocietyawards.com), Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, describes how federal dollars from our government have changed the character of local civil organizations away from grassroots values and serving the community.

Separation of church and state has been overused in legal arguments and somewhat misunderstood overall. We round out the show this week with Andrea Picciotti-Bayer (www.thecatholicassociation.org), Legal Advisor for the Catholic Association, who examines the Blaine Amendment in relation to public funding for Catholic schools.

John's quote of the week:
"What happens with socialism is you have big amounts of money, bureaucrats see it, they use giving to XYZ impoverished group as the rationale for taking it. They then seize the money, usually through taxation or other means. They take a huge chunk for themselves. Then they pass along a fraction of what they've seized and give it to the target group. That's the immorality of the system."

On this week's extra segment, we play a double feature on the European Union from days of Steel past. First up is Robert Congdon from February 2012 followed by Pat Caddell from June 2018. Both give predictions about the future of the EU and it's interesting to see the difference in opinions that six years makes.

If you don't live in the United Kingdom, you may not be well-versed on the Brexit situation, which has once again popped up in the news. In this week's boralogue, John gives a backgrounder on Brexit, from its sketchy origins to the recent inability of Prime Minister May to engineer a deal to current Prime Minister Johnson's troubles this past week. There are long rolling agendas afoot that ultimately thwart the will of the people and cater to the globalists.

Social justice warriors have begun changing the meaning of certain words in an attempt to change culture. Philip Carl Salzman (www.mindingthecampus.org), Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at McGill University, joins us to discuss how SJWs are in fact re-engineering language. It lasts from early education into universities to the point where people have begun self-censoring just to be left alone.

Finally we welcome back to the program author and Middle East expert Raymond Ibrahim (www.raymondibrahim.com) who examines a number of topics including Coptic Christian persecution in Egypt, Islamic terrorists at our southern border, the different perceptions of moderate and radical Muslims, and the political correctness that keeps us from getting at the truth.

John's quote of the week:
"If left to its own devices, the social justice argument and everything as it is framed would collapse from its own logical inconsistency and its deviation from language. The only thing that keeps it going is brute force."

In this week's Extras segment, we play John's latest appearance on Stand Up For The Truth on Q90FM out of Green Bay, Wisconsin. There are a lot of distractions keeping us from focusing on God - money, social media, politics, entertainment. It's difficult, but we are to love the Lord with all our hearts and minds. John takes a look at several of society's distractions.
