fake news media

John and Producer Steve sit down to chat about a variety of topics today, including the absolute failure, despite the left's best efforts, of the climate change narrative, as well as the media's failure to report actual news, instead replacing it with anonymous sources and faulty fact checking. They also discuss America's role as the world's policeman and whether that will continue or should continue – and if it doesn't, who steps in to fill that void?

Narratives are beginning to fail and what were once considered conspiracy theories by those in government and the media are now emerging as facts. First up this week, we look at our armed forces. Jay Richards (heritage.org), Research Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, joins us to examine the widespread rejection of religious exemptions for Covid shots in the military. Is there a hatred of religion or are they trying to purge politically incorrect men and women from our armed services? Whatever the case, our military members are fighting back in court. There is no Covid-19 exemption to the First Amendment.

Another failed narrative from the media is the insistence that January 6 was an insurrection. Even the FBI has rejected that. An independent journalist present at the U.S. Capitol a year ago recorded the event on his video camera. That journalist, Steve Baker (thepragmaticconstitutionalist.com), is with us this week. He recounts what he saw that day and how nine months later, federal authorities are charging him with a number of crimes. The purveyors of narrative never like it when anyone challenges them.

Finally, we travel north of the border to look at Canada and the failing narrative of diversity and inclusion – by those who practice neither. Rounding out the show this week is Christine Douglass-Williams (frontpagemag.com), Associate Editor at FrontPage Magazine. She recalls how a difference in ideological opinion surrounding the Israel-Palestinian issue almost got a woman kicked off a school board for “Islamophobic” comments. This points to a larger problem of condoning anti-semitism in the name of diversity and inclusion.

An independent journalist present at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, recorded the event on his video camera. Now, he's being charged by the federal government with a number of crimes, not the least of which is racketeering. That journalist, Steve Baker (thepragmaticconstitutionalist.com), is with us today. He recounts what he saw just over a year ago and discusses what the government is doing to him now and why – they don't like what he has to say about January 6 nor his footage of that day. He also discusses those who have been incarcerated and held for the past year with no trial.

Truth has been sacrificed on the altar of political narrative in just about every topic in news stories today.  John and Producer Steve discuss how the truth has been left behind in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial, in the recent climate change conference, and in the ongoing saga with the pandemic and the vaccines.  There's even an indictment regarding the fake Russian dossier that no one in the media seems to care about.  Narrative trumps everything else.  If someone really wants to know the truth in any situation, the mainstream media, politicians, and social media sites are not the sources to go to.

Now that hostilities have theoretically abated in the latest Israel-Gaza war, it's important to look at, and learn from, what really happened there. Back with us today is Bruce Thornton (fresnostate.edu), Professor of Classics and Humanities at California State University in Fresno. It's hard to filter out the reality of the situation in the Middle East – or any situation – when politicians and the media push lies meant to further narratives. Examples include how the Palestinians want peace, despite their actions; the climate debate is settled, except the debate has never happened; and universities say they are all about education, but it really seems like they're all about grant money and donations. Narratives may sound nice, but when you're trying to solve real problems in the real world, all they do is get in the way.

Fanning the Flames in Israel

Broadcast Running Time: 01:17:18

It's time we had an honest discussion about how the media are fanning the flames of violence in Israel. John and Producer Steve open the program this week by looking at the events that have led up to the current violence. They discuss how Hamas uses civilians as human shields, but Israel's forces do all they can to minimize civilian casualties when they retaliate. But the media unilaterally condemns Israel and favors Palestinians. It's all part of Hamas's strategy to diminish Israel in the eyes of the world. It's working only because the media play their part.

Not since the famous Heller decision has there been a more important Second Amendment case than one currently coming out of the state of New York. Jacob Sullum (reason.com), Senior Editor at Reason Magazine, joins us to discuss the upcoming Supreme Court case centering around whether the 'bear arms' portion of the Second Amendment can extend outside of the home. He examines the history of 2A and the precedents that could be looked at in this case. SCOTUS will hear arguments in October so stay tuned.

One reason our education system is failing is that children are being told what to think, not how to think. They are being taught critical race theory, not critical thinking. Closing out the show this week is Steven Pearlman (thecriticalthinkinginitiative.org), Founder of the Critical Thinking Initiative. His studies show that students are free thinkers when they interact socially, but in the classroom, they shut down and are told what to think by educators. He describes what other countries are doing to fix their education problems and offers solutions for the U.S. He also gives parents some logical exercises to help their children think and reason better.

It's time we had a discussion on the violence in Israel and the media's complicity in it. John and Producer Steve sit down and examine the events that have led up to the current violence. They then look at the rockets being fired from Gaza into Israel, the Iron Dome catching nearly all of them. Israel retaliates, doing all they can to minimize civilian casualties. But the media only report if there are casualties in Gaza, regardless of who caused it. They unilaterally condemn Israel and favor Palestinians. It's all part of Hamas's strategy to diminish Israel in the eyes of the world. The strategy is working because the media play their part.
