If we're going to talk about climate change and the myriad of issues surrounding it, we must first understand it from a 30,000-foot view. John opens the program this week framing the issue, pointing out the players involved and the arguments they make.
We then welcome to the show UK-based Rupert Darwall (realclearfoundation.org), policy analyst and Senior Fellow at the RealClear Foundation. He examines how the climate change ideology has invaded the business world, largely through ESG scores. He calls it the socialization of capitalism. Many people are rolling with the narrative right now, but soon conditions will begin to deteriorate and it's only when reality becomes harsh that people wake up and start pushing back.
But can you even push back right now? Debate and dissent have been shut down by the powers that be controlling the climate narrative. John welcomes to the program Gregory Wrightstone (co2coalition.org), geologist and Executive Director of the CO2 Coalition. He shows how scientific studies, charts, and models are often manipulated to both further the narrative and stifle debate. If you try to debate, and you use facts and data to back up your assertions, the party of science will shut you down.
Finally this week, we take a look at the real world costs to the climate agenda – fuel costs rising, expensive electric cars, etc. – and ask: is this being done on purpose? Wrapping up our guest list this week is Levi Russell (levirussell.com), Assistant Teaching Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Kansas. He discusses the practicality of trying to achieve what the climate alarmists say they want. It all looks pretty impossible. Could it be that the real plan is to make energy so costly that we won't use it?
The one common thread through the whole climate change issue for over 30 years has been: dissent will not be tolerated. Joining us today is Gregory Wrightstone (co2coalition.org), geologist and Executive Director of the CO2 Coalition. He describes how scientific studies and models are being manipulated to further ideological narratives. And you can't push back on it. Al Gore said the debate is over on climate change. The only problem is that the debate was never allowed to happened. People who are saying politically incorrect things on any topic, including climate change, will be silenced. And if you back up your assertions with facts and data, the party of science will shout you down.
Today, we welcome a guest from northern England, programmer and software author Andy Thomas (kuiper.zone), to discuss his new article titled 'Was Nietzsche Premature in Declaring the Death of God.' It's a sophisticated philosophical discussion today about science, God, the nature of free will, and the essence of reality. So why bring this up? He writes in his article that modern science demolishes any reason that we've had for thinking any one of three things: that God wasn't needed anymore, that God didn't exist, or that God couldn't exist. We're going deep on today's podcast!
The First Amendment to our Constitution states in part that Congress shall not prohibit the free exercise of religion. One government committee is doing just that – in the name of morality. First up this week, John welcomes Andrew Beckwith (mafamily.org), President of the Massachusetts Family Institute. Vida Real, an Hispanic church in Massachusetts, has applied to open a Bible-based school. Even though they have met the requirements, the government panel in charge of approving such requests has denied them. One panel member thinks approval would not be the moral thing to do. For woke leftists, their ideology is a religion – one that always seems to be at odds with Christianity.
So in that case, a woke leftist appealed to morality, but how do people with no sense of morality get away with that? Next up this week, we talk with Rabbi Chananya Weissman (chananyaweissman.com), Founder of End the Madness in Jerusalem. He looks at the nature of morality as it has always been defined and shows how leftist woke religion is diametrically opposed to Judeo-Christian values. He also gives an update on the state of cancel culture and wokeism in Israel.
Finally this week, we transition to the topic of climate change with Dr. Judith Curry (judithcurry.com), President of the Climate Forecast Applications Network. If we're going to talk about climate change, the discussion must be sane and rational – not apocalyptic and ridiculous like so many claims today. Solutions must come from the local level, not a one-size fits all panacea from the globalists. Of course the reason why the conversation trends toward hysteria is so that the power, money, and control folks can enact their plans.
How many times have we heard that life as we know it will end in the next few years unless we fix the climate? Or carbon dioxide is killing us? We need rational debate not hysterics. Joining us today is climate expert Judith Curry (judithcurry.com), President of the Climate Forecast Applications Network. She posits that we need first to recognize that climate change is not an immediate threat. From there, we should get the facts straight and keep politics out of the discussion. Any solution should be discussed rationally at the local level, not a one-size fits all approach from the global level. We all know, however, why the powers that be are allowing the global climate hysteria narrative to move forward – power, money, and control.
Happy Good Friday and prelude to Easter weekend. John flies solo today, tackling a number of topics, including the corruption of science by wokeism, climate alarmism and its relation to religion, and the superiority of the Christian worldview over the secular one. He covers a variety of news stories as well, including a bakery that is owed a lot of money from a woke college and the push for equity in academics and churches fails.
Whenever you are faced with an enemy intent on destroying you and your way of life, it's important to understand their mindset in order to find the best way to defeat them.
Can we ever get a straight answer on climate change? Are there people keeping that from happening? Joining us today is Calvin Beisner (cornwallalliance.org), Founder and National Spokesman at the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation. The media's reaction to the new IPCC report is, as per usual with the media, not consistent with reality. Science, along with the funding of it, has been skewed due to political correctness but Cal gives us the truth behind the ‘97% of scientists agree' mantra as well as predictive modeling – it's not what it seems. Close to everything that goes into pushing the man-made climate change agenda is built on a house of cards that alarmists are trying to keep from toppling over.
The latest IPCC report is out and it's – surprise, surprise – chock full of doom and gloom for our climate. Joining us today is Patrick Michaels (cei.org), Senior Fellow at the Center for Energy and Environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. He points out glaring inconsistencies and faulty science from the report, information given to seemingly further the alarmist narrative. Patrick points out that more and more people are getting apocalypse fatigue as yet another prediction is destined to go unrealized.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change or IPCC has issued a new report and the collective climate alarmists are doing what they always do – forecasting doom unless we do something drastic. John flies solo for today's podcast, looking at not only the latest climate code red but past predictions of planetary doom that have predictably gone unrealized. There is some sound science in the new report, but the media latch on to all of the dire and crazy predictions. John shows the severe cutbacks recommended in the report in order to save the planet. Politics has distorted the science so much so that we cannot even debate the reality of these cutbacks.
