Andy Thomas: The Truth is Out There

Broadcast Running Time: 40:50

Today, we welcome a guest from northern England, programmer and software author Andy Thomas (kuiper.zone), to discuss his new article titled 'Was Nietzsche Premature in Declaring the Death of God.' It's a sophisticated philosophical discussion today about science, God, the nature of free will, and the essence of reality. So why bring this up? He writes in his article that modern science demolishes any reason that we've had for thinking any one of three things: that God wasn't needed anymore, that God didn't exist, or that God couldn't exist. We're going deep on today's podcast!

The Real Cost of Climate Alarmism

We've discussed before the nefarious nature of ESG scores, which are social credit scores for businesses. Today we look at how these socialist standards would affect the oil industry. First up this week is author and scholar John Horvat (returntoorder.org). He examines the recent rule proposed by the Securities and Exchange Commission that would force public companies to disclose climate risks involved in their operation. This rule, motivated by ideology, not economics, gives the impression that America is weak and for the oil industry, will result in declined oil production at a time when energy needs are on the rise.

We then transition to the education arena, showing how dysfunctional our schools have become, even in conservative areas. John first chats with Adam Guillette (aim.org), President of Accuracy in Media. He looks at how CRT is still being taught in schools – even in red states and even after parents succeeded in removing it from curricula. Teachers have admitted that no matter what happens, they'll just close the classroom door and teach what they want.

How did our education system get to the point where teachers choose to teach CRT or discuss sexual topics with children? We welcome two guests: Richard Hawkins (christedu.org), retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force and Dr. Max Lyons (face.net), Director of Teaching Services at the Foundation for American Christian Education. They reveal how teachers' colleges are preparing educators to indoctrinate students with socialist lesson plans. Dr. Lyons shows how his foundation has developed a biblical approach to teaching.

We wrap up the show this week with a positive message. People around the world need to hear and read the Word of God and one of those places is in South America. Joining John is David Witt (spritofmartyrdom.com), CEO of Spirit of Martyrdom International. He describes the need for God's Word in Venezuela and Colombia and what his organization is doing to provide Bibles and leadership in churches there. God has begun a revival of the Christian Church and a renewal of hearts, including those in hard-to-reach tribal areas.

We have three guests on today's program.  First up is Adam Guillette (aim.org), President of Accuracy in Media.  He looks at how CRT is still being taught in schools – even in red states – and when parents catch on, the educrats rebrand it and keep going with the same material.  Sadly, reforms can be sought, but teachers have admitted, regardless of what happens, they will just close the classroom door and teach what they want anyway.

We then transition to a two-guest round table with Richard Hawkins (christedu.org), retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force and Dr. Max Lyons (face.net), Director of Teaching Services at the Foundation for American Christian Education.  They discuss how teachers are being taught in colleges different techniques in instructing children to be socialists.  Dr. Lyons shows how his foundation has developed a biblical approach to teaching.

Some media outlets are beginning to comment on the dysfunction and failures of the Biden administration. How will they extract themselves from the narratives they're anchored to, all the while not irking the far left progressives? Joining us today is Bruce Thornton (fresnostate.edu), Professor Emeritus of Classics and Humanities at Cal State Fresno. He examines why the media seems to be slowly turning on the Biden administration – and it has nothing to do with principles. They are slaves to ideology and a lot of it stems from the indoctrination in our education system, something Professor Thornton has had a front row seat to for years.

The Familiar Road to Socialism

"History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme:" a quote attributed to author Mark Twain. We see today the seedlings of socialism beginning to burst through here in the U.S. and it looks awfully familiar. First up this week is Andrei Znamenski (notesonliberty.com), Professor of History at the University of Memphis. He grew up in the Soviet Union before coming here in 1991 and is an expert in the lead-up to the Bolshevik movement of 1917. He describes the beginning of communism in Russia where they would shut down intellectual debate, control the media, and institute a repressive cancel culture. Where have we heard that before?

The Christian Church has been affected by this change, with some leaders and pastors compromising the Church's doctrines to cater to the secularized culture. Back with us this week after a long hiatus is Ken Ham (answersingenesis.org), CEO and Founder of Answers in Genesis, the Creation Museum, and the world-renowned Ark Encounter. He looks to help prepare Christians to take a bold stand, defend God's Word, and take on the worldly culture. The Church should cease compromising because in the troubled times ahead, with the enemies already inside the gates, the solid foundation of Truth will be a much needed weapon.

Finally this week, we take a look at censorship and the violation of the free speech rights of millions of Americans. Wrapping up the show is May Davis (iwf.org), Visiting Fellow at the Independent Women's Forum. She discusses President Trump's class action lawsuit against social media companies, the need to apply fair rules to everyone equally, and how the repercussions of Big Tech's censorship could help change the culture and founding principles of the country.

Every time socialism has been tried, it has failed and it has failed partly because government tried planning every aspect of everyone's life: an endeavor doomed to crash and burn every time.  Joining us today is Andrei Znamenski (notesonliberty.com), Professor of History at the University of Memphis.  He moved here after his childhood in Russia and has studied the lead-up to the Bolshevik movement.  He describes the beginning of communism in Russia and how the powers that be shut down intellectual debate, controlled the media, and instituted a repressive cancel culture.  I think it's obvious the U.S. is on a very similar path today.  Consider us warned.

Anne-Christine Hoff: Marxist Youth

Many of today's youth – college-age and younger – don't want to debate and don't seem capable of understanding history as it actually was. We welcome to the podcast today Anne-Christine Hoff (jarvis.edu), Professor of English at Jarvis Christian College in Texas. Younger liberals make ideological claims but can't back them up and can't defend them, but if you disagree with them, they will thunder condemnation against you, the racist dissenter. That is classic Marxism. Big Tech and the education system have teamed up to make young people what they are today. And many Christian universities don't seem to want to address these issues. That's unfortunate because if there is going to be a successful pushback against the indoctrination, it will have to come from Christians.

When it comes to declaring sanctuary status, one side of the political aisle says one thing while the other side says the opposite – but it all depends on the issue. First up this week with an even-handed conversation is Jacob Sullum (reason.com), Senior Editor at Reason Magazine. He looks at the questions: what does sanctuary status mean? Should federal laws apply in states? If so, how would that work? Where have the courts stood on these issues? If the rules are good for one side, they should be just as good for the other. The trick is getting both sides to agree to abide by these rules.

It takes someone who grew up under communism to see what's truly happening to America today. Paul Dragu (thenewamerican.com), Communications Director for the John Birch Society, grew up in communist Romania and recognizes many facets from the Communist Manifesto playing out here right now. The Deep State has gradually and intentionally infiltrated academia and other institutions to enact their agenda. But after years of ignoring the warning signs, people are beginning to wake up.

To be called an Uncle Tom today if you're black has a connotation of negativity and of being a sellout. But for those who actually read the book, that doesn't make any sense. Our last guest this week is Derrick Wilburn (poccinterns.com), Founder and Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Black Conservatives. He discusses the essence of Uncle Tom, the man, as well as the book. The ignorance by those who use Uncle Tom as a slur is a product of the radical policies in today's schools that either teach untruths about history and literature or outright forbid teaching them altogether.

John finishes up today's show, analyzing the toxic phenomenon of Wokeism, the new American orthodoxy, a topic written by Larry Eubank in The New English Review.

For those who have actually read Uncle Tom's Cabin, they know that the titular character is a man of great integrity and the hero of the story. But to be called an Uncle Tom today if you're black has a connotation of negativity and of being a sellout. Joining us today from Colorado Springs is Derrick Wilburn (poccinterns.com), Founder and Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Black Conservatives. He discusses the essence of Uncle Tom, the man, as well as the book. The ignorance by those who use Uncle Tom as a slur is a product of the radical policies in today's schools that either teach untruths about history and literature or outright forbid the teaching of important books and events. In the end, it's big government versus liberty and freedom. Make your choice.

Following the incident at the Capitol in January, we began hearing a lot about reeducation camps and deprogramming centers for Trump supporters because they suffered from a supposed psychosis. Sounds an awful lot like what the Soviet Union used to do – and what Communist China does today. Joining us today is Larry Ong (sinoinsider.com), Senior Analyst at Sino Insider, who goes over China's social credit score system, and the CCP's practice of cancelling citizens that don't agree with the party's narrative. Playing a big part in the indoctrination is the media, who, like the communist party, distort the facts to tell their own narrative. Media in the U.S. seem to be mirroring this brainwashing technique.
