politically correct narratives

Before we get to debunking reports and theories rooted more in narratives than truth, we begin the show this week with a very real update on the rate hike announced Wednesday by the Federal Reserve. John explains why we're seeing huge inflation numbers and why the Fed did what they did.

The first report we need to look at is the recently released study on supposed right-wing violence from the Anti-Defamation League. We welcome to the program Mike Hill (jbs.org), retired U.S. Air Force Captain and former member of the Florida House of Representatives. He shows how data in politically charged reports like this are often skewed and/or taken out of context. It is done to push forth a narrative – in this case the push for more gun control. Mr. Hill gives the real reason for the shootings we've seen lately, and it has nothing to do with the solutions proposed by “need to do something” politicians.

Another topic that needs serious discussion is the level of education being offered to minority children. Apparently now, teaching minorities to understand correct grammar is considered racist! Joining us to debunk that sentiment is Kay Hymowitz (city-journal.org), Editor at the City Journal and Fellow at the Manhattan Institute. She and John discuss how all of the freedoms, laws, and advancements that we have in the West are all possible because of a proper education. Elites are denying everyone – of all racial groups – a positive step forward by making assertions like this.

Finally this week, John looks at the long-predicted day of reckoning caused by severe government mismanagement. It's not on the horizon folks, it's here. There is a perfect storm of energy policy inflation and monetary inflation coupled with several concerning geopolitical events. The current administration is doing nothing to help and in many cases is pushing narratives that make things worse. People are starting to realize that things are very wrong. The battle we're in right now is between those who want to uphold the Constitution and those who want to destroy it.

The Anti-Defamation League just released a report on right-wing violence, painting a large swath of people as white supremacists.  Joining us today is Mike Hill (jbs.org), former U.S. Air Force Captain and member of the Florida House of Representatives.  He and John looks at how data in politically charged reports like these are often skewed and/or taken out of context.  They also examine how, after shootings like we've seen lately, politicians on both sides feel the need to "do something," but it's often at the expense of freedoms.  Mike dives into the real reasons for shootings like these and also tackles the true sinister nature of communism.  Lot of truth bombs on today's podcast!

Erosion of Truth in Media

Broadcast Running Time: 01:16:42

If narratives coming out of the media seem wildly inconsistent and are flopping around, there's a reason for that. John opens the show this week looking at the outrage and "flippage" seen in stories about both gun control following recent shootings and Nancy Pelosi being denied communion because of her stance on abortion. The media pound away at a narrative, bury facts, and distort the truth in order to shape public perception on a story. That erosion of truth infects people's minds and that's reflected at the polls. It's dangerous to the freedoms that are the foundation of our country.

Another example of the media distorting the truth to advance a narrative can be found in a story about a riot at a funeral in Israel. An Al Jazeera journalist was killed covering a story and at her funeral, violence broke out. Joining us to discuss is Tamar Sternthal (camera.org), Director of the Israel office of CAMERA. She highlights how different press agencies immediately pointed the finger at Israeli troops as the cause for the violence, purposefully overlooking Palestinian instigation – just to bash Israel.

Finally this week, we look at the declining state of public education in this country. Joining us is Dr. Diane Davis (oneroomschooltraining.com), founder of the One-Room Schoolhouse method of teaching. She describes the benefits of parents taking charge of their child's education and the advantages of teaching in a small classroom. If children can learn how to think, not what to think, perhaps public perception will not be influenced by the erosion of truth and the future of our country can be saved.

An Al Jazeera journalist was killed recently in a crossfire between Palestinians and Israelis.  A riot broke out later at her funeral and now the media spin machine is in full force blaming Israel. Is it true or just another attempt to bash Israel? Joining us today to talk about the story is Tamar Sternthal (camera.org), Director of the Israel bureau of CAMERA. She discusses how media take advantage of casual readers’ tendency to only read headlines by burying relevant aspects deep in a story. And when they do publish details, they are often misleading or outright incorrect in the service of a narrative. The anti-Israel spin machine is still revving strong in the media.

The Biden administration announced that they are suspending the Disinformation Governance Board. But is the desire to control information really gone from our government? First up this week, we welcome writer and scientist Dr. Matt Briggs (wmbriggs.com) to the program. He shows that even though the disinformation board is on hiatus, other similar offices still exist, like the Office of Environment Justice. Government, in establishing what disinformation is supposed to be, is also establishing what truth is supposed to be.

The need to create a disinformation board in the first place is still prevalent and, according to our next guest, is more about being afraid of dissent rather than disinformation. Back with us today is Brandon Smith (alt-market.us), Founder of the Alternative Market Project. The left has evolved from supporting all free speech no matter what to now demonizing free speech – especially if it goes against their narrative.

We finish up this week with a report out of Canada that the Trudeau administration may soon require journalists to obtain a license if they want to keep doing business. Joining us is freelance writer and software engineer Michael Tennant (thenewamerican.com). Journalists are not yet required to get a license in Canada, but subsidies and preferential treatment tend to go to those who have one. With freedom of speech under attack in the U.S., how long before we see a similar requirement for our press?

This Memorial Day, we take time to honor, reflect, and remember those who've made the ultimate sacrifice for our country so we can keep those freedoms we often talk about.

So, the Biden administration just announced that they are discontinuing the Disinformation Governance Board. We recorded today's interview right before that announcement. The topics today, however, are still very much relevant. Back with us after a long hiatus is writer and scientist Dr. Matt Briggs (wmbriggs.com). He discusses the obvious faults with a disinformation board, as well as similar problems with the new Office of Environment Justice and its counterpart in the Securities and Exchange Commission. Government, in establishing what disinformation is supposed to be, is also establishing what truth is supposed to be.

Ezra Levant, head of Canadian conservative news outlet Rebel News, has reported that the Trudeau administration may soon require journalists in Canada to obtain a license if they want to keep doing business. Back with us to report on this is freelance writer and software engineer Michael Tennant (thenewamerican.com). It's not yet illegal to report on stories without a license in Canada, but you don't receive subsidies and/or preferential treatment unless you have one. And with the government issuing these licenses, it's pretty clear which journalists will end up receiving them. Producer Steve finishes things out today playing some clips from Ezra Levant himself describing his experience.

Narratives have flown freely ever since January 6, 2021, and it's tough at times to get the real story, especially from the leftist mainstream media. One man has written a fact-filled article detailing the day's events. Back with us today after a long hiatus is the author of that article, Bill Jasper (thenewamerican.com), Senior Editor at The New American magazine. He and John discuss the use of the word ‘insurrection' to describe the event, the lack of firearms by the protestors, the motives for the continuous leftist narrative, the so-called “bi-partisan” J6 committee, and the insertion of agents provocateurs on that day. It's all J6 all the time on today's podcast.

It's difficult to fight against any enemy – whether it be a vast army or hordes of ideological Marxists slowly eroding the foundation of your country – if you don't know who you are as a society. America has lost what it means to be American. Opening up this week, we are joined by author and cryptography expert Paul Rosenberg (freemansperspective.com). He points out that America has lost its metanarrative. We used to build things, care about things. But today, our proud heritage of innovation and freedom has fallen victim to a Marxist enemy intent on destroying us. Can we fight back? Only if we remember who we are.

One way Marxists have eroded our national identity is by long marching through the institution of education. Parents must take back their children's education with a long march of their own. We welcome Joe Murray (joemurrayenterprises.com), attorney, teacher, and founder of Joe Murray Enterprises to the show. He discusses ways public education should change to allow students to think for themselves instead of being indoctrinated. There are realistic steps parents can take right now to start marching in the other direction.

John finishes out the show this week looking at the different stages of totalitarianism, using the Canadian government's tactics against the Freedom Convoy trucker protest as an example.

What does it mean to be an American? What is the DNA of the United States? Joining us today to answer these questions and more is author and cryptography expert Paul Rosenberg (freemansperspective.com). He points out that America has lost its metanarrative. We used to build things, care about things – in essence, we had a unified, proud metanarrative. But then something changed and now our children are taught to hate their own country, to tear things down rather than build them up. Historically, people have come here to invent things, to create lives for themselves, and to realize their potential. That whole culture of belief has slowly eroded into what we're seeing today. The question is: can we get it back?
