It's important when studying history or looking up facts to understand the situation in context, otherwise everything gets clouded with judgment. John flies solo on today's podcast, recalling times where he was confronted with a problem and then drew upon conversations he had or books he read in the past in order to come up with a solution. When you Google facts, a lot of times the results are out of context. You need to understand facts in context in order to understand why people behave the way they do. Knowing human nature and applying it to history gives you a much clearer, fact-based look at our past, rather than the wokus-pokus version we often see. A good lesson for not only us but also our children.
There are two characteristics that are emerging on the global stage covering a panoply of issues. John flies solo to open the program this week, identifying these two issues as eroding confidence in our public officials and their tendency to enforce rules and regulations arbitrarily. He gives a few examples in the world economy where these issues are causing substantial erosion. He then goes on to give the history of the dollar as the world's reserve currency, describing the many sleights of hand used to manipulate and weaponize the dollar over the last 75 years. The result is the economic mess we find ourselves in today.
Cancel culture is pervasive today, not just in economics, but across all aspects of society. How did it get to this point and is there a way to stop it? Joining us today is Mark Bauerlein (firstthings.com), Senior Editor at First Things and Professor Emeritus of English at Emory University. He shows how the younger generations are learning this canceling behavior, both online and in schools, parlaying that on to college campuses and then into the workplace. Many Christian denominations have fallen prey to this as well. But if enough people stand up, call it out, and reject it, we can put a stop to it.
What is the advantage of an armed citizenry? Finishing out the program this week is Brandon Smith (alt-market.us), Founder of the Alternative Market Project. He looks at the advantage the U.S. has in having an armed citizenry, including the importance of the Second Amendment. No one has ever invaded America, most likely because we have millions of armed citizens. He also advocates for bringing back a well-regulated militia – a controversial idea to the left but an important one to discuss.
Cancel culture has gained a pervasive prominence in our society. How did it get to this point and is there a way to stop it? Joining us today is Mark Bauerlein (firstthings.com), Senior Editor at First Things and Professor Emeritus of English at Emory University. He describes how the millennial generation learned this cancelling behavior during their teenage years and then parlayed that knowledge to the campus and then to the workplace. While in school, woke educators taught a version of American history that projected America as a horrible place. It's easy to have a Marxist, cancel culture mindset after that. He also points out that many Christian denominations have fallen prey to this mindset as well. But if enough of us stand up, call it out, and reject it, we can put a stop to it.
A public school history teacher in Oklahoma was removed from his job recently for not wearing a mask. That teacher, James Taylor, who is also Pastor of Christ's Church in Norman, Oklahoma, joins us today. He relates his reason for not wearing a mask and it isn't the typical mask wearing reason. He plans to fight the ruling. He looks at the hypocrisy of those pushing masks who either don't wear them or wear them incorrectly. Pastor Taylor goes on to discuss how CRT is still being taught in schools, though under a different name, the real plans of the educrats, and the state of America's education system today.
In Mark 11, Jesus asked the Pharisees to decide if the baptism of John was from heaven or from men. Instead of making a decision, they sat on the fence and claimed ignorance. Artur Pawlowski (streetchurch.ca), Founder of Street Church Ministries in Alberta, Canada, spoke in our area recently and John caught up with him for an interview. Artur shows what the battle ahead will look like for Western civilization and what we must do to win. We must get off the fence and stand up to tyranny. We know what tyranny looks like from history so we should be able to recognize it now. Making that decision is scary, but with God on our side and an iron resolve, we can successfully make a stand and choose what side of the fence we want to be on.
If what is happening doesn't make sense, there must be another agenda afoot. And today, there are many things that don't make sense. Back with us this week is John Guandolo (understandingthethreat.com), Founder of Understanding the Threat. He maintains that many of these illogical events – like the disastrous pullout from Afghanistan – are intentional. Change agents come to town trying to distract you from the truth of what's happening but people are beginning to see through the charade and wake up. He shows us what we can do.
Finally this week we welcome to the show Joseph Puder (frontpagemag.com), columnist at FrontPage Magazine. He examines America's reputation in the world after the pullout from Afghanistan. Our allies around the world don't trust us and our enemies are more emboldened. Does that mean attacks on U.S. soil are imminent?
John often says that if what is happening doesn't make sense, there's another agenda afoot. Well, there are a lot of things happening today that don't make sense. Joining us is John Guandolo (understandingthethreat.com), Founder of Understanding the Threat. He maintains that many of these crazy events, which defy logic – the unbelievably bad exit from Afghanistan or much of the messaging behind covid – is intentional. Change agents swoop in and try to distract the public from what's really going on but people are starting to see through that and wake up. He offers solutions on how to dig out from this.
The politically correct narrative today is that when Christopher Columbus came to the New World, everything went downhill from there, starting with his mistreatment of the Aztecs. Dr. Robert Royal (www.thecatholicthing.org), Editor-in-Chief of The Catholic Thing and an expert on Christopher Columbus, joins us today. He looks at who Columbus was as a person and how his discovery of the New World eventually led to the greatness of Western society. Today’s politically correct elite, though, perpetuate the anti-Columbus narrative which has led to revisionist history taught in schools and the tearing down of Columbus statues around the country.
